Strategy roadmap
The NSW Digital Strategy roadmap shows how we will keep the strategy up to date and aligned to the NSW Government’s vision. Elements of the strategy, such as commitments and case studies, will help measure the progress of digital transformation across NSW.
On this page, we have outlined the plan for making sure the NSW Digital Strategy remains relevant to the rapidly changing digital landscape. This plan is broken up into ‘horizons’ that demonstrate what we will do and when.
The plan includes:
- A minor release every budget cycle to align with any significant shifts in the digital priorities of the NSW Government
- A major release every 18 months to reflect new digital Department strategies, technologies and trends.
To further demonstrate progress on the strategy, we will track and measure the progress of commitments every year.
Objective: Align to the NSW Performance and Wellbeing Framework and budget outcomes
Key activities
- The NSW Government will introduce the NSW Performance and Wellbeing Framework in the 2025-26 Budget. This framework will allow the NSW Government to measure its delivery of services and track the overall quality of life of the people of NSW.
- We will align the strategy with the NSW Performance and Wellbeing Framework to continue to find opportunities for digital to improve the lives of people in NSW.
What this means for NSW
- Digital technology provides an opportunity to support the outcomes of the NSW Performance and Wellbeing Framework.
- We can measure the impact of digital on the delivery of outcomes identified in the framework.
Objective: Measure and track progress of commitments
Key activities
- The commitments published as part of the NSW Digital Strategy will be measured and tracked annually.
- New progress will be published as part of the annual strategy update.
- We will update the NSW Digital Strategy to align with significant changes in the digital landscape, NSW Departments and 2025-26 budget outcomes.
What this means for NSW
- Provides visibility of the progress of key digital activities taking place across the NSW Government.
- Drives meaningful outcomes and benefits for the people of NSW as commitments are completed and new commitments are captured.
- Align digital priorities across NSW Government agencies and Departments to make sure the strategy remains relevant and timely.
