Modernising workforce capability within eHealth NSW

The eHealth NSW Digital Academy is one of the largest of its kind in Australia. The Digital Academy is a place for eHealth NSW staff to come together to learn new skills, put that learning into practice, and collaborate and share ideas. This helps ensure NSW Health builds technology, designs solutions and creates digital innovations that improve the health outcomes and experiences for patients now and into the future.

It includes a range of training streams, focusing on the skills that are critical to their work such as Agile ways of working, analytics, Cloud, customer centricity, human-centred design, integration and interoperability, safety and quality, and service management.

Achievements

The Academy’s self-paced learning resources and events foster continuous innovation, supporting eHealth NSW’s vision for a digitally enabled, patient-centric healthcare system.

Over 14,000 offerings have been completed and 80% of participants say they have applied learnings to their role.

The Cloud Stream training supported eHealth NSW’s staff in successfully migrating 10 critical clinical applications, including mission critical workloads, from on-premises infrastructure onto the AWS Cloud, enhancing operational proficiency and security.

Engagement

The Digital Academy's development involved input from various stakeholders within eHealth NSW, including technical and non-technical employees, as well as collaboration with industry experts and partners.

The ongoing engagement is facilitated through Communities of Practice run by each stream, providing a platform for staff to ask questions, share ideas, and continue learning in a collaborative environment.
