Support cyber security research and innovation

Innovation, including commercialisation and improved uptake of digital technologies, processes and systems, is critical to the growth of the cyber security sector in NSW. The speed of adoption translates into revenue which propels the speed of innovation and new product development. The development of emerging technology not only improves productivity and competitiveness but also generates and retains talent. These factors together create an ideal environment for attracting R&D investment.

Our Strategic Objectives

1. Lift NSW research capability by encouraging collaboration between industry, government and the research sector
2. Continue to build on the NSW Government's membership within the Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre (CSCRC). The CSCRC builds effective collaborations between industry, government and researchers, developing cyber security capability for the future.
3. Attract research investment by actively promoting NSW research capabilities, leverage the activation of precincts, the NSW Cyber Hub and international networks and partnerships.

How we will achieve our objectives:

In order to achieve our objectives, we will focus on the 5 key areas:

1. Continue to facilitate collaboration between government, industry and academia to enhance cyber innovation
2. Foster innovation pathways by 'business matching' industry problems with innovators.
3. Provide channels for start-ups and scaleups to showcase new cyber security capabilities to industry, government and in key export markets by leveraging trade shows and conference opportunities.
4. Support the sector to develop and commercialise new high value products and services by leveraging NSW Government's Boosting Business Innovation Program
5. Strengthen the cyber security innovation ecosystem by encouraging industry leaders to provide mentorship.
