The current skills gap in the NSW Public Sector hinders us to work in a more responsive & agile way. Furthermore, it impacts our ability to quickly adapt and deliver innovative digital ICT solutions that meet the changing demands and expectations of our customers.
NSW Public Service Commission's Digital Capability Uplift initiative is transforming NSW Government departments, its leaders and public servants with a set of six new digital capabilities. This initiative aims to develop NSW into a world-class public service, prioritising an enhanced customer experience to support sustainable, innovative practices and future operations in digital government.
This initiative was delivered in two tranches in collaboration with NSW Department of Customer Service and Transport for NSW. Since its launch, the initiative has upskilled public servants across NSW Government via different deliverables. Some of the deliverables include the NSW Government Human-Centred (HCD) Design Toolkit, NSW Government HCD Community of Practice which creates a strong network of service designers across NSW, establishing a digital platform to share and leverage lessons learnt, and a digital platform to successfully conduct remote training.
The NSW Department of Primary Industries' Global Ag-Tech Ecosystem (GATE) team has been leading this initiative in regional NSW to expand the reach of the program, including through virtual models for both HCD capability building and a regional HCD Community of Practice.
