Attracting diverse, high quality talent to NSW Government is important to building a world class Public Service. One unique way NSW Government does this is through designing entry-level talent programs such as the NSW Government Virtual Internship Program.
What is the NSW Government Virtual Internship program?
The NSW Government Virtual Internship program offers university students an 'internship like' experience whilst showcasing the work that graduates do.
As part of the Program, university students can complete work modules that reflect real tasks NSW Government graduates work on, helping them gain insight into the functional areas of interest they can choose, if they join the NSW Government Graduate Program.
What makes the program unique to other program initiatives?
The virtual work modules within the program are interactive, allowing students to receive instant feedback upon submitting their work. The Program also features modules in Policy, Digital, Data Analysis and Legal, with additional modules being released in the future.
How has the program impacted NSW students?
The program was launched by the NSW Public Service Commission in July 2019 and as of September 2020, it had seen over 13,000 enrolments from students across New South Wales, Australia and as far reaching as France, Columbia, Nepal, Ghana... the list goes on.
'I very much enjoyed the program and will definitely apply for the grad position. I did the program just to see what it might be like, but after completing it, I can see myself in a policy position at any level of government and believe I could thrive there.' - Virtual internship program participant
