The NSW Design System was launched in 2018 to support NSW Government teams to build better services and products, and provide a consistent user experience via different resources such as core components, resources and reference guides.
With COVID-19 pandemic, nearly most of the NSW Public Sector workforce has moved to working remotely over the last few months. The NSW Design System team has launched a Digital Collaboration Tools Guide, to help you find the right digital tool for your remote collaboration needs. This tools guide has been created in collaboration and consultation with a number of NSW Government agencies.
The tools guide gives information on different available tools for different activities while working remotely, such as communicating with others, creating ideas, managing tasks and projects, sharing knowledge, working across networks, co-authoring documents, and cybersecurity best practice. Since the launch, the content has had over 3,500 page views.
By using the NSW Design System and Design Standards, we have enabled teams across the sector to save time, money and build better products. It's exciting to know that to date, it has helped teams save about 400% on research, user experience and visual design. Furthermore, it has significantly decreased the time taken to develop prototypes and working products, and has led to an uplift in digital capabilities via adoption of new 'design' ways of working across NSW Government. It has been used in NSW Government sites such as nsw.gov.au, data.nsw.gov.au, buy.nsw.gov.au, and planningportal.nsw.gov.au to name a few.
