You might recall the NGO Capability Building Tool from our 2018 highlights. It's a free online self-assessment tool for organisations delivering human services. Since the tool was launched in November, nearly 300 people have signed up to assess their capability.
The tool is voluntary and the results are confidential. A series of quick and easy surveys guides users through 10 capabilities that are central to customer-centred service delivery, ranging from customer experience to data management.
After spending around 40 minutes navigating the NGO Capability Building Tool, organisations will be able to see which capabilities they want to build on and how to get started. They'll be armed with:
- a score card that outlines their results
- tips on how to improve each capability
- links to free online resources and training from across NSW Government for each capability.
Capability building helps services of all sizes adapt, innovate and thrive in an increasingly complex environment. CEO of the NSW Council of Social Services Joanna Quilty said the tool “is a great example of the benefits of collaboration between NGOs and the NSW Government that will help organisations to build strengths and improve services and supports for people of NSW.”
Ultimately, this tool is one way we aim to strengthen NGOs as they continue to support some of our state's most vulnerable people.
