The NSW State Library's new catalogue is the primary way to search, request, and digitally access its immense collection of over six million items, including books, manuscripts, maps, photographs, paintings, architectural plans, objects and digital content. In the past, users have reported frustrations while using the catalogue interfaces.
The NSW State Library has tackled this problem by launching the first iteration of its new beta catalogue, with the goal for readers to search and browse the Library's collections more easily, intuitively, and enjoyably. The new catalogue puts the reader first and has also enabled State Library to expand its audiences. This has enhanced the overall user experience for the Library's entire collection, thereby making it easier to navigate and understand.
The Library's new catalogue is a continuing, iterative project and new features will be released regularly. The new site has a built-in feedback function easily accessible from every page.
