COVID-19 has surfaced a key issue with senior citizens across NSW as they socially distance and even self-isolate in their homes. In fact, many seniors across NSW were unable to perform critical day to day activities such as shopping for essentials.
There are over 1.5 million seniors across NSW, who have a Senior Cards or Senior Savers Card for discounts and exclusive offers. As a way to support one of the most vulnerable groups in our community, Service NSW launched a Senior Cards API.
What is a Senior Card API?
A Senior Card API is a reusable card that can be used by retailers to instantly verify if a customer is a senior citizen eligible for priority assistance. This has enabled major retailers across NSW to provide preferential assistance with home deliveries for eligible senior citizens so they can shop safely and simply from their own homes.
How has the new API card impacted seniors?
With the help of this initiative, seniors are now able to include their Seniors Card and Senior Savers Card number while placing an order with the retailer (online or over the phone) and receive the benefit of priority home delivery service.
In future, Service NSW will be further leveraging the Seniors Card API to allow senior citizens to instantly access cost savings, discounts and exclusive online offers.
