The Western Parkland City will be one of Australia's most connected cities with innovative and digital infrastructure. The city will bring residents closer to jobs, services, education and the world. The Smart Western City Program will define the solutions needed to deliver on this promise.
True collaboration with the industry is needed to make the Western Parkland City the smartest and most connected city, as the solutions to meet the future needs are not held by government alone.
More than 250 people attended the Smart Western City Program Industry Briefing, leading to 114 researchers, innovators, start-ups, corporates and consortiums sharing their ideas and initiatives to tackle big challenges for a growing city. We worked with industry to explore these ideas through a pitch fest event, test and trial incubation, and market soundings.
This industry engagement program helped partners understand the productivity, social inclusion and environmental outcomes envisioned for the Western Parkland City. They were also able to present their proposed smart solutions for the Western Parkland City to three tiers of government and provide feedback on ways government can support and enable successful implementation of the Smart Western City Program. The development and delivery of the Smart Western City Program is a commitment under the Western Sydney City Deal.
