Single Digital Patient Record

The Single Digital Patient Record (SDPR) is a transformational health program that will provide an integrated view of a patient’s care within the NSW Health system. It will give clinicians easy and timely access to a holistic record of an individual’s medical information, providing real-time access to medical records and empowering clinical teams to make informed decisions promptly, streamlining processes and reducing administrative burdens on our staff.

Achievements

The SDPR Program will deliver a single integrated Electronic Medical Record (eMR), Patient Administration System (PAS), and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to 228 public hospitals, 600+ community health centres, 60 pathology laboratories and 150+ pathology collection centres, replacing several existing systems that are widely used across NSW Health services. The overall implementation timeline is anticipated to be 6 years (2023-2029/30).

Engagement

The SDPR will be developed collaboratively with local health districts, specialty health networks, and other NSW Health organisations, facilitated by eHealth NSW and NSW Health Pathology. Input will be gathered from clinicians, consumers, patients, and technical experts, while Epic Systems has been contracted to provide the technology platform for the SDPR.
